   URGENT  URGENT URGENT

On Jan. 18th at 11:30 -1pm the  ATLANTIC STATES FISHERIES COMMISSION
will hold a meeting in Maryland (details following)  to discuss Gordon
Colvin's motion from Dec. to freeze all states regulations at 2005 regulations.

If this motion passes New York will have to do almost nothing for the 2006 season.

If this motion fails we are looking at about a  40%-50% cut in NEW YORK.

THIS WILL MEAN A SIZE LIMIT OF 19 - 20 INCHES, A BAG OF ABOUT 2-3
FISH, AND A SHORT SEASON (MOST OF MAY AND SEPT WOULD BE CUT).

At the Dec. meeting this motion had some support and looks like it has a 50%- 50% chance of passing. The New York fishing industry should have the room filled as this is our most important fish. A full room could change 1 or 2 votes that would make this in our favor. If it fails we all know that next year will be a total mess. If anyone needs more information please call me.

Thanks
Dennis Kanyuk
